Brief: The Idea Behind The Price Marketplace

You may be wondering:

• what problem our platform seeks to address

• if our platform represents a significant solution to the problem it addresses

Here's the long and short of it. The Price Marketplace is developed to help bring visibility to foodstuff prices across Nigeria. We all know that putting problems and systems out in the open almost always works to correct the cracks. Going by that, we recognized a critical and unfortunately, long-standing issue regarding foodstuff prices in stores and markets nationwide. To help bring a change, we decided to make foodstuff prices visible.

Users log in and update names of food items and the prices at which they are sold in their locality.

This serves other users who want to buy such food items, especially within the same locality. At the least, a user can view the price of say rice and decide to go to the market where it was reported to be cheap - if such market is closeby or if they intend to buy in bulk.

Alternatively, the user can view the price of beans and use such price as a basis for bargaining with vendors in the markets within their own locality.

Both of these actions can significantly drive down the prices of foodstuffs as buyers become aware of cheaper markets or stores, or use the price information on our platform as a benchmark for bargaining. We're sure by now you see how this transforms the foodstuff market and reduces the pain of consumers.

We can offer an extensive and more detailed breakdown if you need one. Simply reach out to our co-founder through the button on our homepage.

Now, to explore how accurately our platform addresses the problem of unfair, unregulated and simply outrageous foodstuff price manipulation by vendors. The biggest point is regulation. You see, the simple act of updating food item names and prices and markets or stores where they were purchased from is not only for visibility. It could serves as a form of reporting.

Simply log that you purchased abc at a price of xyz.

If this xyz price appears way above the general price for the item - and multiple reports come in pointing to the same market, store, or products, relevant authorities can catch that and begin investigations. Our platform is poised to work with locals, businesses, agencies, and ministries whose interest aligns in this way and who want to see the welfare of Nigerians. That being said, we're super excited about this and we look to having you play a role in beating down foodstuff prices.

Ready. Set. Let's update prices!
